Pipe Burst in Fairfield, CT Home Causes Water Damage
We just finished up a job in Fairfield, CT in which a pipe burst in the lower level of the home. There was widespread damage- including water damage to the carpeting, walls and wooden staircase. The call from the homeowner came after hours however we have a team ready around the clock and we were able to respond to the emergency call.
We first protected the large contents of the space, such as a pool table and heavy furniture, with plastic so that it wouldn't be damaged during restoration. Our crew removed the wet carpeting and padding and hauled it away to be discarded. The water damage affected only the bottom quarter of the sheet rock, so we were able to remove just that and save the rest.
The home has a beautiful wood staircase that had gotten wet. We were determined to save the stairs and had great success using our moisture removing floor mat system. Dehumidifiers, air movers and filtration using HEPA filters were used to bring the moisture to safe levels, preventing the chance of future damage such as mold.
After the home was dry, it was time for our construction crew to come in and finish the job. The team laid carpet, replaced sheetrock and baseboard molding and repainted, leaving the house better than ever.
